Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought the $50 purchase was for the build information and RPO content for your specific vehicle, rather than the generic sales literature.

Pontiac Historic Services and GM of Canada have offered that kind of service for many years now. You send them your VIN and get a packet of specific documentation back.

Don't get me wrong - I appreciate the more generic sales literature and brochures, because they have powertrain charts, dimensions and other technical information that otherwise would be lost.

Again - maybe I misunderstood because it is a somewhat fine distinction.
