The next thing I did was take apart the core support and took a better look at the rust that was below the battery box tray. This thing was too solid to throw away and too rusty to use in that corner so I primed it and shoved it in the basement for later.
I took lots of photos of the disassembly as there's a lot of bolts that go in this big puzzle.
