Re: saddle tanks on a 1972 jimmy?

As far as I know, that is not a dealer option. It was an aftermarket add-on. The unfortunate aspect of these tanks is that they are located directly beneath the door openings. The original torsion boxes had to be cut out in order to install the tanks in their place. Great if you need all that gas and NEVER take the hard top off. Bad if you want to take the hard top off, as the tub will now want to sag through the door openings without the added support from the torsion boxes. New torsion boxes are available, so you could easily get rid of the saddle tanks and restore the structural integrity of the Blazer tub.
