With the engine off, remove the air cleaner housing so you can look down the throat of the carburetor. Move the throttle lever and loo for a stream of gas being shot into the carb bore. This is the function of the accelerator pump and a shot of fuel should be noticed at the first movement of the throttle. If it’s not happening, your engine can quit when the throttle opens.

If the pump shot is there, and the problem persists, I would check the fuel filter, and fuel pressure. If all good, then open the carb up.
