I use them a lot when I'm building a diff for a 'wheeler'. Unless you are running a high output engine and romping on it hard, the sleeve will do you just fine unless you really want or need the spacer. It does make it convenient if or when you need to replace the pinion seal and worry about getting the same amount of preload
