I had vacuum connected before, just off the intake manifold's two port tee (one to TH350 and the other to climate control reservoir).

I am much happier with this setup for sure. Nice to learn stuff properly, which is what I get for assuming sh*t! But I swear I read any vacuum port on the top / middle of the carburetor was ported.
