That's about spot on where mine is & I share the same concern of it being tucked too much. The issue w/trimming the inner bedside flange is you can't trim much (maybe .675?). Even @ that, I would want to reinforce it somehow. I am still contemplating possibilities....

What wheel widths did you ultimately purchase?
