7.5" in my opinion is the max compressed height you can use in the front end. If it is any taller than 7.5" fully compressed you most likely will not get full travel out of the front suspension and induce coil bind.
Example would be my spring:
17 3/8" long uncompressed
aprox 6.5" fully compressed (inducing coil bind)
240lb rate.
