Now it's time for the heater control valve. There were no specifications on where to cut the heater hose, so I cut mine close to the firewall cover. I wish I had cut it so it was an inch or two longer. Oh well.

Anyway, cut the UPPER 3/8" heater hose near the firewall, I guess exactly where is up to you and your interpretation of the VA Instructions.

Anyway, install the control valve so that it is somewhat level. Install the 3/8" hose you just cut off onto the other end of the control valve. Put hose clamps on both ends and tighten 'em down!

Next, take the heater/A/C cable and put it on the shaft on the control valve. Put the A/C/heat lever all the over on "heat" and move the arm on the heater control valve to "open." You can now tighten the hold down to hold the cable in place.

Move the heat/A/C arm in the cab and make sure it moves freely from Heat to A/C. If not, make adjustments to the cable hold down at the control valve.

NOTE: When installing the control valve there is a directional arrow on it. You want the arrow to point TOWARDS the cab of the truck. Hot water will flow from the intake manifold to the control valve, through the heater core in the VA underdash unit, then back through the bottom hose to the water pump. With the A/C on and the control valve on "closed" no hot water will flow through the VA unit.
