If you are thinking new metal only because of the high polish, well personally I like the high polish look. With that said, having your hammers and dollies polished also serves a purpose. Hammers and dollies are printing presses, meaning what is on their surface will become imprinted onto the metal. So if you have a hammer and dolly full of nicks and dings, the metal's surface will soon also become full of nicks and dings from your tools.

If your tools are polished the metal's surface will then also take on a polished surface.
