PROS for TKX: cheaper up front, less tunnel work, lighter weight.
PROS for t56 Mag: Stronger, more aftermarket support

I'm currently running a T-5 but have just purchased a 500 hp 396 stroker so I'll also be upgrading the transmission to a TKX. Biggest issue I have found is the lack of aftermarket support. Nobody currently makes a mid-mount shifter and only American Powertrain makes an aftermarket shifter for the standard location. I have a bench seat and currently run an S-10 tailhousing with my T-5 to move the shifter forward. I bought the AP shifter with a 3" offset to move the shifter as far forward as possible but it will be tight. Other than that it should be an easy swap. The TKX is about an inch shorter than my T-5 but I'm moving the engine back so a new driveshaft was going to be required anyway. I'll report anything else I find when I start the swap in a couple weeks.
