It certainly hurts the originality, which affects the value
if the truck is otherwise stock. If the truck is custom all over, no one's going to worry about a cut dash. If it's a very stock truck like a Cheyenne, then IMHO cutting the dash is a *bad plan*.
I plan to leave my stock radio in place but upgrade the speaker a bit. Long live AM radio!!!
