My buddy is an upholstery guy
He uses some kind of spring clip on the panel then he covers it with some kind of thin plastic layer....then the vinyl, or some thin foam, and then the vinyl...
He also uses a PVC foam board on some of his panels...it can be heated and formed.
I can ask him about the clips...he lives next door
