Keep in mind that unless you know for sure that a particular starter is original, all you are really decoding is when the casting was made. Most starters on older vehicles are rebuilt ones using a mix of original and new parts. Many have probably made several trips from vehicle to rebuilder and back to a different vehicle.

IIRC - the rebuilt starter on my C10 does have a AC-Delco stamping on the body but when I bought it, it was a mid level Autozone rebuild.
