Even most of the crews that I have worked with will pre drill the sheets with a small hole, 1/8" diameter (3mm), in the sheets before installing them with the screws. Saves effort and keeps from blunting the screw tips. Looks like your original screws where a poor quality to blunt that quickly.

I used the first screws, wood type, the second pics were of Andy in Oklahoma

All the screws are now done, capped and happy with the outcome
