Starter stud nut size
My 69 C10 has a rebuilt OE-type starter that I installed around 20 years ago. It's still going strong but I'm in the process of installing new, larger gauge battery cables.
Turns out the battery stud on the starter has 3/8-16 threads, but the hex nut takes a 15mm wrench, and it's a tight fit. Seems to me that what I've got here is a nut that needs a 19/32" wrench, which I don't have.
The nut appears to be copper, so I want to re-use it. I'll be able to use a 5/8" wrench to snug up the nut, and then a 15mm wrench to tighten it. But I wanted to see if anyone else had run into this.
I do remember nuts on electrical terminals, like on coils, were sometimes 11/32", etc., which is why we had ignition wrench sets, but I don't remember starter nuts with 19/32" hex heads. Strange, huh?
