Re: My 1963 K20 Stepside - Going to be lots of questions ....

I'm going to have to have a shop do a handful of the things related to safety.
  • Steering Gear Box Replacement
  • Brake Pads around
  • Wheel Cylinders around
  • New brake lines, practically all
  • Fix emergency cable/adjust so it works
  • Change master cylinder to a dual reservoir
  • Grease the u-joints I can't reach
  • Wiring harness from firewall to starter/coil/ground that likes to smoke
  • Hook up/fix speedometer cable

I could likely get around to doing most of that myself, but at this point I don't mind paying someone else.

That should get me on the road safely and not be a threat to those around me.

Tonight I decided to drain and fill the T221. I barely got a quart out, but put 2 quarts in. Interestingly, some previous owner tapped a hole on the top of the case and ran a rubber hose into the engine compartment. I'm guessing this was to fill the fluid without having to crawl underneath. Neat idea, but I'll need to do the rear lower axle seal some point in the near future as well.
