I'm not much of a salesman as I really doubt that you will need to replace the intake. From your description, it sounds like he may have used slightly longer bolts to fix it for now. If helicoils are properly installed, they are a permanent and good quality fix and you won't have any need to replace the manifold. Once again, if you decide to replace the manifold, I'll have this one for a while.
