Today I pressure washed the engine, after soaking with Oven Cleaner (works better than degreaser, btw) .... Then pulled it apart.

No sludge what so ever on head or in crankcase/pan.

Lots of carbon, probably when the carb lost its main jet (see C-10 thread)

and was running super rich, which probably washed the cylinder walls.

Anyway, the pistons are ALREADY .060 OVER , so hopefully they are straight...

You can still see the hone marks, and there is no ridge...bearings are near perfect.

So, once I remove the crank (balancer puller is at shop) my machine shop is gonna mic everything, and go from there....Plan is to re-ring at minimum. An engine kit with pistons is relatively cheap, so if I go there, itll be flat tops at least.
