This goes back a few years when I thought I had the same problem. I put the '87 fuel tank in my '80 C10. The solution is quite simple. Take the original hose off of the steel fill tube neck, and use a Gates #24716 fuel hose. It has the same ID's as the new tank and your fill tube. Just cut it to the same length as the rubber hose your truck originally has
