Small Parts Painting
I am wanting to paint small parts(mainly bolts) to match the color I am having my 69 C10 painted.
I can get some of the paint from my painter. My question is do I use something like the spra-tool aerosol spray gun from Eastwood or get some paint from a company that offers custom paint in an aerosol can (like cross link paint)? Thanks |

Re: Small Parts Painting
If the painter is doing the truck, I'd let him do the bolts at the same time..
When I paint bolts I usually stick the threaded section thru cardboard, leaving the head where I can paint all around it

Re: Small Parts Painting
I have thought about that, but it has been a challenge to get this truck painted (body shops prefer insurance work to restoration work).
With that said, I'm trying to keep what I ask him to paint to just the body. |

Re: Small Parts Painting
i understand...it may be a challenge , but i know ive seen you can have your paint loaded into a aerosol can...but i dont think its very cheap
talk to the painter and see if he can get his supplier to load you a can up

Re: Small Parts Painting
Depending on the color, I would have a paint shop mix some in single stage in a spray can. Bolt heads can chip real easy with a wrench or socket. This way you can touch up when needed, or paint more when needed quick and easy.

Re: Small Parts Painting
Does not sound like you have a whole bunch of colors to spray. I would have a paint store mix up a quart of the color and spend a few buck on a china freight gun and the spectrum cup system. Easy to use, easy to clean and if you ever need to do a larger part, you have all the tools needed. Be sure to get a slow activator and read the mixing instructions.

Re: Small Parts Painting
I'm a 'poke them thru the carboard guy' myself as well.
The cheapest and easiest way is like mentioned above. Get a pint/quart of single stage that matches the best you can and use one of the $15 guns from harbor freight. $50 dollars or so will be a lifetime supply. Scott |

Re: Small Parts Painting
I found a place called Roberts Paint Care and they made me two spray cans of the color that I needed, cost wasn't bad like $ 75.00 for two cans and shipping.
Going to try it out today, will post pictures. |

Re: Small Parts Painting
Hardware stores and some parts stores have these available and they work well. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Preval-9...-267/202533738
