need some info and ideas

I have a set of these heads in the garage, a buddy bought them for his truck and put them on, then after starting , started getting milky oil and a crack was found in the block, so to me they are basically brand new, just have a few mins of idling on them,

are they just a stock replacement, are they 305 heads?? Not for sure what to do with them

Re: need some info and ideas

It is the Vortec head. A good head for a street engine. Does take a matching intake.

Re: need some info and ideas

decent heads good for about 1 hp per cube. lift limited to about .460. requires self-aligning rockers, centerbolt valve covers and a vortec intake.

self aligning rockers: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/na...make/Chevrolet

take-off valve covers can be bought cheap from eBay.

Edelbrock performer eps vortec. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-20214/overview/

use the felpro 1094 mls gasket if the engine is stock.

check valvetrain geometry - may need custom pushrods.

compcams extreme energy 4x4 12-231-2 or 12-235-2. you could hit retainer clearance issues with -235, but it's rare.
