Shade of red on new dash pads???

I bought a new red dash pad from Classic Industries for my 67 C10. It has documentation in the box from Dash Direct, so I assume it's one of theirs. It seems excessively bright and I am wondering if anyone has had experience with red dash pads and if there are different manufacturers with possibly different shades of red. I realize that my dash pad is discolored due to age, but wow does it seem bright. Maybe once I get the rest of the interior shined up, it will be fine, but I'm not sure. Pictured next to the door panels, it matches better.

No experience with them but you are comparing a brand new pad to 50 year old sun bleached pad .

You could switch to a black pad to match your cluster and glove box door. Nice contrast.

I replaced everything with new and made a seat cover to match just because of that concern. They are super bright! Very squishy too. I’m not sure how they looked back in the day but I suspect they were a shade darker. I think your best bet for matching OEM vinyl is to dye it darker.

Re: Shade of red on new dash pads???

There are 2 shades of Red, Bright Red. And I believe some call the Dark Red, Maroon. I’ve noticed that with the seat fabric, carpet and seatbelts.

The new stuff will look bright compared to the old faded reds. And reds were notorious for bad fading anyways, doesn’t matter what shade it was.

Re: Shade of red on new dash pads???

Thanks all for the input and for the pic, 68bowtie. That helped a lot. I thought about the maroon one but since it’s a factory red interior, I want as stock as a look as possible. I suppose once I get it all spiffed up, it will look OK.

I am curious if there is a different manufacturer that has a red that is slightly less bright, but it’s hard to tell from pics for a web site.
