Rear Coilover
If I was going to put rear coil overs in where do I put them. Ie. Do I put them as close to the trailing arms as possible or do I put them near the center section. Thanks guys

I would put them out towards the frame. How much is the truck lowered? To get the truck real low you have to put a crossmember above the bed floor.

The closer to the wheels you can get them, the better they will do their job. Also as close to verticle as possible.

i raised the floor of my bed 4" with 2"x4" box tubing, that way i won't have a box across the bed from tub to tub. i agree with DJ Racer on your shock location, as wide as possible. pro street/ drag vertical street "G" machine type 10 degree slant top inward toward center. good luck phipp

I want to lower the truck 6" in the rear. I'm not sure what spring rate I should be running? I have the fuel cell and the battery in the back of the frame.

I don't think you will get that much of a drop without the upper crossmember being above the bed floor. The spring rate would depend on the Weight of the rear of the truck.

This setup looks like it would allow the truck to be as low as possible with a coil over shock. I plan to do this to Jr's truck as soon as possible. I just have to get his 9 inch shortened first. I also need a different bracket for the Disc Brake setup.

I went on the other side of the frame to get the spring as far out as I could and I still got a six inch drop and I still have about three inch travel on the shocks.

I bought the tubing and cut it to length and welded a polly bushing on one end, then they sat in my garage for about 6 months while I worked on other parts of the truck. I was taking design aspects from CPP's trailing arms but was not happy with the polly bushings on the one end. Nate at Porter built told me about his choice of rod ends for his version of truck arms which are the Sphon spherical rod end and they make all the difference in articulation. No binding, and it is not going to get sloppy over time.  Since I was building my own custom 9" rear I was able to weld the brackets in such a way that I did not need to bend the trailing arms and could run them straight back to the axle which gives it a sleek uncomplicated look. In hind sight I should have made the perches a bit taller on the arms because I had to end up putting a lowering block in to get the 6" drop I wanted. The pan hard bar is not as flat as I wanted but I made it extra long so I do not think it is going to be that much of a big deal on any side to side movement. I designed system with Bilsteins coil overs in mind and had to go through a couple geometry and spring changes to get it just right. I know I am not going to be winning any auto crosses with the truck but it sure was fun to build. And thanks for the compliments!
