Serial/sequence number

My truck is my signature line below. If it has a VIN of CM20DBA10001, would that mean it is 1) the first 1969 vehicle out of the Baltimore plant 2) The first truck from there 3) the first GMC from there 4) the first GMC V6 3/4 ton Wideside... well you get the idea. What would initiate a run of sequence numbers?

Now if that were known and if one knew the production rate that the sequence applied to and the date of the start of production of that sequence, could the approximate build date be determined?

Re: Serial/sequence number

I'e been too busy working- and working on it- since it got up here from my sister's in GA a couple of Mondays ago to take pictures here at the house.

It's not #1... but the 2nd digit is a 1!

Perhaps these will be a suitable band-aid?

Re: Serial/sequence number

You know,I'm not exactly sure how the sequence number works. I would say first GMC but could be wrong. Pretty sure, though. I don't think the model matters on the sequence. I will say, that tailgate sure looks original and it is unmistakably a 67/68 tailgate. That sure supports it being #1...not that the serial# isn't pure bonafication. Looks like a great one.
