56 First Bath in 13 yrs Barn Fresh

Ok guys I found a 56 Chevy 3600 standard bed, 6 cylinder, straight gear, fresh from the barn. I made the guy a offer and after several days he called and accepted. I first thought was v-8, Big cam, low, cut up, slice, hot rod, slammed, and cool rims and tires. Once I got the 13 years of dirt and grime off of it I ealized this truck may keep a factory look and stance. I turned the engine over today and it has good compression and should start as soon as I get a new switch (owner lost keys). This truck has the original oil bath air cleaner. The truck has been stored since owner passed, his 70 year old son sold it to me. I am going to show some pics

Very little rust and what I have found can be easily patched.

Congratulations on the buy! Whatever style you pursue with it, enjoy it. Task force chevrolet trucks are works of art, Irregardless of style or condition. Good find.

Re: 56 First Bath in 13 yrs Barn Fresh

OK this my first 50's truck and it took 10 mins to find where the brake fluid goes. And my truck has a forth pedal

That was a unexpected and took me awhile to figure out that mystery. While I was under truck I noticed that the metal in the bed is covering a nice wood floor painted black underneath truck. Is that factory?

Hoping to get new switch this week and try to start this truck.

Glad I found start pedal!!!!! Haha.

Very Cool! Nice Find, Congrats!

I believe most older chevy truck wood beds were originally painted black and sometimes body color after 1955.

>>> "Glad I found start pedal!!!!! Haha."

LOL. What's wrong with this key switch anyway? Doesn't even turn all the way!

Hint from the 55 Secret Decoder Ring: You probably don't even need a key. If the key slot is vertical you can turn it with anything. If you turn it CCW one notch from vertical you'll need a key to get it back out of lock.

Great find! What part of NC are you in? I almost bought one of these last winter. One of my favorite trucks.

I am in Chatham County, (zip code 27207) middle of the state. I buy old cars and trucks and make some repairs and flip them. I like this one and might keep it. I already have a 69 camaro that I am restoring on the 10 year program.
