Plugging and capping hoses for outside storage over winter

I am take the cab off my frame for sheet metal work and doing some other work as well. I want to remove the rad so I can fix the rad support and it will be off for some time. I plan to move the rolling frame with motor and trans in and out of the shop during the build process. I want to cap the lines as it will have to spend a fair amount of the winter outside. Under a large tarp.

What do you use to cap off the cooler lines?

I dont have a thread gauge that fits that type of fitting. What type of fitting do I order at the parts desk?

It has a inrad trans cooler 4 core rad 350 sb and a th350 trans 1971 gmc longhorn.

I also need to come up with a way to cap off the rad hoses. any ideas?

I plan to fill the motor with antifreeze and then cap all the lines preferable at the block. When I have all the lines caped I want to pressure wash the engine and trans as well long before winter. I don't want to get all the crap from washing to get into areas like the water coolant system. Sand and oil will not be good in there. There is about 3/4 of a inch of crap in places.

Re: Plugging and capping hoses for outside storage over winter

why not just drain it empty and use cardboard and duct tape over all the connections or some kid of rubber gaskets material, filling full of antifreeze and it is not going to run, does nothing
if it is empty then it should not hurt anything

keep it covered good, and do not allow any moisture or water or critters inside

stagnant antifreeze can turn acidic over time

I would just drain and blow out with air to dry

we called it a dry lay-up in my old navy boiler days
