First truck- 1969 3/4 ton

Hey guys,
Last week I bought my first vehicle and I'm trying to fix it up a little. I've made some progress but its hard because no one in my family is mechanically inclined. I bought for $900 dollars which I think is a fair price. It's a 1969 c20 3/4 ton with a muncie four speed and a 283 with an edelbrock performer intake and a rochester 4 barrel carb. It runs good and fires right up and the body isn't bad.... the box is from Texas. Some things I want to do is put on a dual exhaust and some other more bolt on things. I wanted some advice on how to do a dual exhaust. Right now I have the interior out and I am patching the floors/ giving everything a really good cleaning. The paint is not great but I don't have a lot of money so I'm not looking to do anything to crazy. I basically want the truck to look good and be useful on our small farm and getting to work. I'll try to post some pics. Any advice on the truck would be helpful, thanks!

Re: First truck- 1969 3/4 ton

Be careful these trucks can be addictive.

My advice since this is your first truck and the fact that you are just getting started would be to keep your projects limited. Finish each before taking on another (I.e. finish engine before taking on suspension, finish suspension before taking on paint, etc) or it can and will get overwhelming very quickly.

Secondly, keep the truck drivable and work on it that way. You bought this truck to drive so drive it as much as you can.

Post pics when you can, there are lots of really great guys here that are more than willing to help. Help them help you by being as direct and clear with your questions as you can and pics really help.

Good luck!

Steve
