Camper mirrors ?

Does anyone know where I can find SS camper mirrors for my new truck? The truck was ordered with painted mirrors ut everything else is chrome or SS so I don't like the look however I didn't want to make more holes in the doors. The truck is a 1971 CustomCamper 20

Re: Camper mirrors ?

You may want to go to the parts board and check out our board vendors.
These guys really know our trucks and can steer you to the best products.
Here's a link to the Vendor Marketplace.

Have fun!

Re: Camper mirrors ?

There aren't any made like the originals. You'll have to find nice used ones. They come up on the parts board from time to time,or post a WTB.

Re: Camper mirrors ?

I know this is an old post..
Anyone have an idea how to tell the difference between the OE and the aftermarket mirrors. Specially if all i'm given are pictures on here?

Also, it looks like the going price is about $50+ shipping, is that about right, I've just recently started looking.
Thanks for any help,
-Mike

Re: Camper mirrors ?

The original lower mirror arms were two separate parts. The repro and later mirrors were all one piece. At some point the mirror head and upper arm were incorporated and the original heads and arms bolted together.

Re: Camper mirrors ?

From my experience, you'll really want to go with the originals. The aftermarkets tend to use a thinner metal on the heads and vibration creates havic on them, especially on the longer mounting arms. I bought an aftermarket set ( years ago from J.C.W.) that vibratrated so bad, the distortion in the glass made them unusable. Just my two pennies for the bowl.

Re: Camper mirrors ?

Thanks guys,
I definitely want to go original. I just wanted to make sure I know the difference in case someone tries to pass me some after markets as originals. And any idea on the average price of a good set of big Camper style mirrors?

Re: Camper mirrors ?

Also,
I know for the sport mirrors there is are backing plates etc that cannot be seen. I don't have experience with the Camper mirrors, are there other parts that I need to install the mirrors, would hate to get a pair then realize I'm missing something.
Thanks a lot guys,
