Clutch Pedal soft after removing slave

90 gmc 6cyl speed... We changed the starter. The slave cyl was in the way so we took two nut off and moved cyl out of way. Did not take line loose. We put slave back on and pedal would not move. Took slave back off and pushed piston back into cyl and put back on. I'm pretty sure the rod is lined up. Now pedal is soft won't engage cluth. We tried bleeding slave cyl. Got lots of air at first then fluid. Pedal has not changed, still to soft. We did not take lines loose so there should be no air in system. Any Ideas Please!!!

Re: Clutch Pedal soft after removing slave

So I think I have an issue with the push rod, I thought it was lined up. There is a bolt on the side to remove and see if push rod is in clutch fork. BUT the Y pipe is in the way of seeing in the hole. On a new slave cyl there is a strap holding push rod. Any ideas on lining up the push rod???

Re: Clutch Pedal soft after removing slave

i just went though this on a blazer to bleed the slave it needs to be unbolted from the truck and turned with the bleeder up take the cover off the side of the tran 3 bolts and you can check to see if the rod is lined up

Re: Clutch Pedal soft after removing slave

Thanks truckdude! When the slave cyl is bolted on the bleeder screw is straight up. I will look in the morning for the cover with 3 bolts. I think it is an alignment issue with the pushrod.
