was washing the tahoe today....

I was outside washing my tahoe today.... it started to sprinkle, so i just did a quick wash...

A guy stops by in a chevy truck and wants to know if it is for sale.... I said no, not really....

He offers $3,000. and I told him I was not interested, then he says $4,000...

I told him I was not ready to get rid of it yet,and not sure if i would ever want to sell it.... so he gives me his business card and tells me to call if I change my mind....

anyway, what are these Tahoes worth? I have never really thought hard about selling mine... but after today, I am just curious.....

I have a 97' 2 door 2wd Tahoe.....

I had always wanted a 2dr 2wd Tahoe and it took me a long time to find this one...

If you have a 2dr Tahoe, how much did you pay, how long did you search, and has anyone offered to buy yours?

pic for reference... just a stock 2wd 2dr tahoe...

(mods, this is just a discussion, I am only trying to discuss the events that happened today, I am not trying to sell, or list my vehicle for sale)

my neighbor had one, and loved it. his bro n law was driving from his to their house & swerved to miss a dog. he didn't miss the big oak tree. the dog was still there when the suckup truck came & hauled it off! oh yeah, it had barn doors too!

If you TX guys think they are hard to find,... try finding one in the rest of the country. Ha.
It's almost impossible.
(I really thought all of them were in Texas)

Re: was washing the tahoe today....

I went to buy mine for $5,000 after looking for 2-3 months. 4X4's are everywhere. But 2dr 2wd are hard to find. During the test drive it died 2 times. Pulled the dip stick and it was like mud in the crank case. The Intake gasket had been neglected. The guy said make an offer. I said $1000 he said no how about 3000 I said no not interested. Left went to lunch and my wife said are you crazy? She new how long I had been looking for one. Got home checked CL again he had it back up for 2500 "Bad motor". Called him he put it on a trailer and brought it to me. I installed a remanufactured engine for about $1300 3 yr 100,000 mile warranty. After everything I probably have about 6000-7000 in it. I don't know if I will ever get rid of it. I get attached to vehicles. My 78 El Camino I have had since I was 14, I have had my 89 Gmc for 17 yrs. Any way the first pic is when I bought it, second pic is new engine, third pic is the way it sits now.

IMHO if you really want a vehicle then that vehicle is priceless. especially when they are rare. besides 4000? if youre worried the truck wont go to a good home call him and tell him 8000.

I think the question is, does he want one more than you did when you were searching?

up here you couldn't give away a 2dr 2wd.

Re: was washing the tahoe today....

interesting replies.....

I had never thought about selling it, it took me a long time to get this one.... i liked them when they came out with the 2dr 4wd, and like a lot of others wished they had made a 2wd version when the 4wd 2dr came out.... one of my favorite conversions is the bell tech 2dr blazer... they took a 4wd blazer and converted the suspension to 2wd...

after i saw this i always wanted one.....

I even still have the magazine that has the build up for this one.... ^^^ and a couple with this ad in them....

I always look and try to see if any other 2wd 2drs are out there, but most of them i see on the street are 4wd....

I have seen a few 2wd, but they are harder to find.....

Re: was washing the tahoe today....

Bought mine 700 miles from home, spotted it on e-bay at a dealership. Seems the original owner wanted a new 2 door Tahoe and was po`d when he found they were unavailable. He held on to it another 2 years , then decided to trade. The dealership posted pictures on evil bay, I bought it over the phone. The wife and I drove my 2005 Tahoe and picked it up. It was in super shape w/110,000 miles and unmolested. Lowered it and put TT/2 `s on it , and sold my 2005. Oh yeah $6000 2 years ago.

Re: was washing the tahoe today....

There are tons of 4-dr 2wd tahoes.
I wonder why GM limited the 2-dr production numbers?

Re: was washing the tahoe today....

Looks like,Mexico got most 2wd 2 doors, they were called silverado..I dont know if the 4wd was available here.I bet most ppl who own a 2wd 2door here in mexico would trade for a 4wd and mybe put some cash to it.the bad part is that you have to pay alot to legalize so u can register in most states...
should be easier for u guys,I think u can buy from here and take them back to the us make it smag legal, pay registration and thats it,I think or u have to pay like 300 to 500,I have heard not 100% sure though.

I own a 97 with a 5.7 tbi,they were tbi's till 98 and 99 came with the 5.7 vortec.selling the 97 to buy a 99 or a cleaner 97-98.this one has seen better days.I will upload pics soon.

Thanks.

Re: was washing the tahoe today....

I bought mine for a 3250 back in november, Its really not in the best shape and only had 138k on it when I bought it, it had a 2/4 drop, all new a/c and a trans rebuilt about a year before i got it. I looked for a while and never found one and then stumbled onto this one thru a friend and couldnt pass it up.heres a pic (please excuse excess rake)

Demand (ie, sales).

As far as I know we didn't limit it on the production side.

Re: was washing the tahoe today....

i believe all of the 2dr 2wd were made in Mexico (is that right?) I know mine was...

I have also heard they are more popular in Mexico....

Thanks for your comment too Keith... I have no idea what the supply/demand in the US was....

I dont have answer on the supply / demand of 2 door 2wd but I found that my particular vin is .010% of tahoe production in 1996. Of course this does not represent 2door production number but I did find it intresting anyway because besides the 2door , they arent any real rare options on my truck so I can safely say this is a good educated guess.

this is the value for my tahoe....

I don't think mine is a "one off" tahoe....

we had this discussion on corvette forum also... about the website you mentioned... because everyone thinks they have a rare corvette

this might be important and accurate???
