Tool Stowage Box Door Repair Help

Hey guys, I’m repairing this tool stowage box door and looking for some input/advice. It has cancer rust in the corners, I media blasted the affected areas to get a better idea of what I’m working with. Also had to repair the hinge for the latch/handle. I decided to split the door in efforts to keep the hemmed edge around the perimeter. After splitting in two pieces, it appears the entire bottom of the door should be replaced due to bad corrosion internally (not much original metal left to make me feel comfortable buttoning up only to have it rust out again in a couple years). I would like to retain the hemmed edge, what is my best option to repair this door?

Re: Tool Stowage Box Door Repair Help

What about making the front of the door whole again and then cut the rear off and reuse the lip by welding on the edge, then grinding down. Could also use coat hangers or thick welding wire (like when welding up door gaps) on the edge and welding a new cut out lip for the back.
Just a thought, that would keep the backside lip.
