Replacements First Trip C/20

Hi, here is kind of a short story.

I was involved in an accident back in April 2007 when a lady ran a red light at 50 mph and broad sided me in my 69 C/20. I've had possesion of this truck for over 10 years and kept begging my Dad to sell it, give it, donate it, or whatever to me. He always told me its my truck (which he bought new) and you can drive it all you want but it is my truck. I mean he even paid the insurance and registration. My Dad came to visit on April 11, 2007 and when I came home from work my Dad said, "We are going to the tax office to put the truck in your name." That is a day I had been waiting for since I got my drivers license which was in 1986.

Then came April 13, 2007 which was a Friday. I drove the truck to work (the first time I drove it since it was mine) left work early to go to Austin, TX about 90 miles from my home in College Station, TX to get the pickup camper that my Dad also bought in 1969. My goal was to restore both the Truck and Camper and have it just like when Dad bought them in 1969. I even restored the Honda trail 90 dirt bike bike that goes on the front bumper, which he bought new. I made it about 86 of the 90 mile trip when I was hit.

I felt bad because I had just destroyed my Dads truck. I was determined to still have the restored truck and camper combination, so I set off to find a replacement truck. It took a while to find a truck that was as close to what I had as possible. I was able to use a lot of parts off the original truck but not as many as I would have liked.

Original Truck: Yes, it was a hard hit and I only received a broken leg

This is a picture of me 2 1/2 years after my accident and the first trip on the replacement truck. This time I made it all the way to get the camper. It was weird driving through the same intersection where I was hit 2 1/2 years earlier in the same kind of truck, on the same trip. I am working on getting all the bugs worked out before I disassemble it for paint and body work. It has an Aluminum headed small block, 700R4 trans, A/C and Edelbrock Proflo fuel Injection.

Re: Replacements First Trip C/20

dude, i'm a father and a grandfather. You better believe that your dad felt much worse about you being hurt than his truck being crashed.
On top of that you didn't even get to enjoy the truck after waiting that long.

i bet that camper comes in handy. I've got a longhorn and i wouldn't mind having a camper like that to go to the lake.

For the love of god, just drive it before you forget what the truck is supposed to look like !....LOL
