Armrest Vinyl Paint Remover & Stain
not sure really where to post this so I figure the paint specialists may know
I recently bought two red(ish) 67-71 armrest against my better judgement since as everyone knows there is only one armrest color and that is black (hold your thumbs we can thumb wrestle over it later) so one of them was black but the seller did tell me he spray painted it black, so I decided to use some paint thinner and removed the black to find red under it, and then beige under that, well the red aint coming off with paint thinner the second arm rest is bright red but it already shows blue under that So what am I doing? I have no idea What is my end goal? two black arm rests so what type of paint remover would you use on vinyl, or leather, or pleather or whatever this is, and what would you stain or die it with please and thank you, Greg |

Re: Armrest Vinyl Paint Remover & Stain
Lacquer thinner is what I have used on the vinyl parts.

Lacquer thinner then wash with soap and water. a good wax and grease remover or rubbing alcohol then light prime and paint.

Re: Armrest Vinyl Paint Remover & Stain
thank you I did just that, but I used some paint I already happen to have, an d like most modern spray paints it claims to be a paint and primer in one
