Pitman arm trouble

Been to the local parts stores four times, 2 different stores, to get a pitman arm for my 71 GMC manual steering. Everytime they have given me a pitman arm that has a spline hole that is too big to fit the gear box shaft. They've tried ones for manual and power and get the same deal. They don't seem to be able to get one that will fit. The hole on the ones they are getting is like 1.12" diameter and mine is like .975" diameter.

Anybody ever had a problem with this?

I know that it is the original steering box and pitman arm. Is there something special about my truck maybe? Any suggestions on where I can get the right one?

Try a different parts store! A good NAPA shop will tell you which is which.

I agree!
Or CarQuest.

They may have to order it. But around here, get it ordered by 4:00 p.m., it'll be in the store at opening the next day.
