New battery, won't turn over
Morning y'all. I've been working on my '69 CST-10 (stock 307 / 3-speed) for a while without a battery since the one in it died a few months ago. My brother bought one for his 64 1/2 Mustang so I put it in my old truck to let it run a little bit. When I tried to crank it, it wouldn't turn over, but the lights, wipers, etc worked. I put the battery in my '85 Mustang GT and it cranked right up after putting it on a charger for a minute (I let it run for a little while). When I put it back in the truck, I wasn't getting anything but the lights and all. I put the charger back on it while it was in the truck, put it on the "starter" charge, and it would click when I tried to turn it over (that sound I'm used to hearing when the battery has a dead cell). The battery has 550 cca, so I would assume that's enough for my truck to turn over. The ground is good, the connectors are clean. It cranked and ran just fine with the last battery. I definitely welcome your thoughts. Thanks in advance y'all.

Re: New battery, won't turn over
Sounds like you have poor connections on the battery cables check and clean both ends or better yet if you have a mulitimeter do a voltage drop test.

Re: New battery, won't turn over
I don't use anything less than 700 cca batteries,in my trucks. The one in my '85,is a 900cca. I have a generator, and air compessor on-board,since I do outdoor power eqpt repair, and they're both electric-start.Even without them,I would still use the larger battery.
