Ida Mae

OK, so not much of a build but will be a good place to document the progress of the ole girl. I have posted a couple pictures here and there but story goes

2018
So I had been searching for a year and a half- nearly every night, get the family off to bed, pour a glass of bourbon and start searching Craigslist, FB and the like looking for an original paint Blazer. I finally found a candidate- rough but factory ochre paint in northern California- it needed several thousands of dollars just to undo what the owner had done- I was on the phone with my cousin who was talking me out of that truck- meanwhile, my wife hops on her iPad for 15 minutes and says- why aren't we buying this one? .... she found this in Idaho- pictures looked clean-so after a couple days of waiting to hear back from the owner of this truck- he calls me back- yes it's still available- a guy from Minnesota wants to buy it but he knows it will be driven in snow- luckily for me, I live in sunny AZ! He agreed to give me a few days-my wife and I flew to Idaho, rented a car to check it out- it was so clean I had a hard time picking it apart- a deal was struck and I arranged for transport back home.

So here she is as she was in 2018 - (I'll post more pictures later)
purchased from the original family- Special ordered- 250 inline 6, 4 spd, utility buckets, radio delete, lighter delete, rubber floors. 1971 paint, the doors were repainted by the dealership in 71 as there was something wrong with it from the factory. Top has never been off (that will finally change soon) He had a Stewart Warner vacuum gauge installed, presumed Hickey tire carrier, curtains so the grand kids could nap on fishing trips and a wooden handle mounted on the dash for Aunt Marvel to get in and out. I was able to get the curtains, original rear bumper and factory spare tire carrier while I was there- unfortunately, the original painted caps and 4 stock wheels got thrown in the dumpster by his kids! (Doh!) Fire extinguisher is dated 1972

She is a sweet ole girl- we named her Ida Mae (she's not a ho)
