Gotta Love electrical...

So i was drivin home from class last night, and im drivin downt he road and the temp gauge is steadily gaining, goin up to about 230. Once it gets to about there, i stop at a light and the dash lights flicker and then turn off. The fuse is fine, but im assuming some kind of progressive short that slowly pushed the temp gauge up. But i dont know how this is related to the lights. Any ideas? Thanks...

Battery connections clean? Alternator doing it's job, or not?

Re: Gotta Love electrical...

Yea everything is working great except for the dash lighting. The headlights and parking lights turn on, the tbi runs fine, and the battery is reading its healthy 14v. I measured across the fuse and got 12v, but then when i measured between the illumination and ground wire behind the head unit, i get nothing. Could this be a headlight switch issue (partial)?

IMO, either headlight switch, or a bad ground somewhere.

Re: Gotta Love electrical...

Im pretty sure it didnt cause the second the lights shut off, the gauge jumped right bakc down to a normal like 180 degrees....

try pushing gentally on the fuel and speedo gauge once...sometimes the plug-in connection gets dirty which could be possible since it sounds like your temp. gauge was moving like it lost power to it. if that isn't it...i'd say headlight switch...

Re: Gotta Love electrical...

Ok so i tried pushing and tuggin a little on some of the wiring, whihc is rather difficult to get to i must say, but nothing is workin yet. I figured id take the headlight switch out to look at it, see if anythings busted, but how exactly do i get it out, lol? Ive had enough fun while removing the one from the 66, but this one seems a little different. Can i remove it without taking off the gauge bezel? Thanks...
