Violent Shaking?

Hey guys, when the burb's in neutral and the clutch is pushed in everything's fine, but when the truck's in neutral and the clutch is out the truck shakes really bad. Has anyone ever delt with something like this so I know what to check?

Re: Violent Shaking?

Something sounds like it has come apart.
Can you crawl under and see if the clutch pressure plate is at least still firmly bolted to the flywheel?
Maybe take a pry bar and give the flywheel a tug to see if it has started to come loose from the crank?

Just a couple thoughts at the moment.

That is the one part of a vehicle that scares the cr@& out of me! That clutch/flywheel will do bad things to trucks and people. Tear it down, and find the issue before it finds you.

Just sayin...

Re: Violent Shaking?

Could be the clutch disc coming apart, or the input shaft and or the input shaft bearing.
With the clutch depressed both stop spinning. Do you feel it when you drive?

Re: Violent Shaking?

Since it only does it when the trans is out of gear my money would be on th bearings in the front of the trans for the input shaft. when in gear both ends ar supported but iwhen out of gear one end hangs loose. pull the trans and with the gearbox in nuetral see if there is any slop in the input shaft. also gives you a chance to inspect the clutch pack. my 2 cents
