Temperature gauge hookup....quick question

I took off some aftermarket temp gauges. Wanting to wire in the factory temp gauge in the cluster I restored and added a tach to.

My question....does the line go from the temp sensor to the top stud or the bottom? I assume the bottom then is the ground? Just want to make sure before I short out the gauge or the printed circuit. thanks.

BTW I ran a search and checked the FAQ and the wiring diagram is gone...
and the ones I've found don't show this.

The temp sender is tied into the gauge cluster via the factory wiring harness. I don't have the schematics handy, but you might damage the temp gauge if you try to hook a wire straight to it, I don't know.

thanks for stopping me. I'll look at my blazer manual's wiring diagram and see if I can figure it out again...

I did a few more searches and found the wire for the temperature sender is a green wire. Second on the right from the top left of the two harnesses in the engine bay that connect to the back of the under dash fuse block. That green wire is cut on mine. I assume since the line on the current temp sending unit is a thicker copper line it was mechanical. So I will have to plug that spot and use the spot on my intake that has a plug in it now. I will post pictures tomorrow in case this can help someone else.

And I should have figured that the temp gauge was using the harness and printed circuit since it came right down to it....guess my common sense went out the window when I got three hours sleep....

I'm not sure what you are doing but the wire from the sender goes to the cluster plug terminal number 6, and the other wire is the power feed wire from the plug in that feeds all the gauges. It's a printed circuit board and no wires go to top or bottom of the resister. Below is a pic of the back of the cluster and a cad drawing of the circuit. The temp gauge is the second from the right on the lower row.
