56 chevy wheels

I see all these nice looking wheels on 55-59 chevy trucks. Like delmo wheels and the detroit mob wheels. Can you guys tell me if I have a chance on making my wheels look good or shoukd I just replace them with something else. Any help is appreciated. If you have pics of the wheels that I have all finished please post pics.

Re: 56 chevy wheels

cleaning and painting will go a long way to improving the look as well as dogdish caps

if you plan a disc brake conversion on that truck those wheels will not clear the disc brakes

Re: 56 chevy wheels

wheels made before 71 had a different rear crossection and will not clear disc brake calipers// some guys grind on calipers and or use spacers for the wheels// i am not a fan of eother of those solutions

Yea I wouldn't be either. So my wheels are pre 71. The front is 6 lug the rear is 5 lug.

Re: 56 chevy wheels

If your going disc i would change the front to a 5 lug so you can carry one spare not two.If your looking for older style wheels rallyamerica.com has a lot of options even some billet ones up to a 20.
