Welding a step notch on a 68 1/2 ton frame???

So i have 68 GMC frame that i am welding a step notch to. My question is, right were the notch needs to be welded the frame curves in on both sides. I want my notch to be straight and seems difficult with the frame as is. I hope some of you guys know what im talking about. Any advice on the topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The pre-bent weld in kits are the best way to go by far. They match the curve of the frame.

Yeah, I would recommend a pre-bent kit. I just welded one in last weekend, one from S/d and it worked out pretty good.

Porterbuilt Streetrods, is the place you need to buy the notch from. He is a vendor on here and will give great advice and service of his products. You can buy it in pieces, tacked together, or even fully welded from him.

This is the notch I used, it follows the curve in the frame just fine. But as for Porterbuilt, I kind of wished I would of gone with them. Better service and from what I've heard, better product. I had to grind down parts of the sides of my frame to get the notch to seat right. Nate is a real good guy. I would hit him up man, he can help you out.
