Can't hear IPOD

Well actually you can hear it but only if you crank the volume and even then it can barely be heard.

I have a new Custom Autosound and the radio plays good and strong, actually sounds good for what it is. I bought a RCA to IPOD plug (headphone jack) and plugged the RCA it in the back of the radio but I can't hear the IPOD play.

Any ideas?

Re: Can't hear IPOD

Where is the volume on the iPod? If you put the iPod at 3/4 of max volume, you should be able to crank it from the radio. I am not familiar with that radio setup, but it could be an issue with not enough power from the headphone jack.

Most aftermarket radios designed to work with aux input account for the low voltage of the headphone (2V) and boost it to 5V+, but if not, it could be the issue. The radio is trying to play a 2V signal and doing a poor job of it.

Let me take a look at that radio, what model do you have?

Re: Can't hear IPOD

First check all the normal things:

1. Some stereos have a separate gain adjust for AUX inputs.
2. I know the iPod touch has a volume limit setting. Make sure that's off.
3. All connections are good.
4. You're using good cables.

If you still find you need more gain, check into a preamp/booster. If you Google Sound Shocker Pro, FiiO, Boostaroo, portable headphone amp etc. You'll find lots of info.

Not my review but check out:

Re: Can't hear IPOD

I had this issue a couple times with my Kenwood, it seemed that it would not play my iPod or it would be a very faint sound. Found out that the cable I was using was junk and didn't connect very well. Got a quality cable and it fixed the issue
