Anyone running headman headers

Bought some cheap ebay headers for 100 bucks for my 84. I went to put them on the 350 i'm about to drop in, and they fit on the factory motor mounts on the drivers side. The passenger side the bolts didn't line up right at all they were total junk and the seller only offered me 30 bucks back. Needless to say i'm pissed off and don't want the same problem again. I'm looking at these now i've heard good things about headman. I'm on a real tight budget so need headers under 200 bucks.

Re: Anyone running headman headers

I've used Heddman Headers on a few vehicles. Always had good luck. Still using a set that I installed 11 years old and they're just the painted ones. I did use a decent set of gaskets and really haven't had any issues. I use to check the bolts frequently when they were new to see if they were coming loose.

Re: Anyone running headman headers

I bought the same headers, They arrived just thrown in a box rattling together and were scratched to hell. I sanded and re-painted but it was three months before I installed them, The right side was a nightmare...... Oversize welds around the tubes kept the head of the bolts from seating flush on the flange, Three holes had to be elongated to get lined up.

Once I ground the welds and elongated the holes to get it on I looked under the truck, The freak'n thing was inch and a half lower than the left and pointing down and out to the right side.

They went in the scrap pile and Hookers went right on......

Re: Anyone running headman headers

I bought a used set of Headman shorties from a local guy for $50. I cleaned them up, painted them with black BBQ paint and installed them on my '80 in August when I put it all back together. They installed very well. I used good gaskets, applying copper spray gasket on them first. I've been running them for 2 months now, no lose bolts. I'm very pleased with the headers and the install.

I got em on my 350. They went in great and fit great. Used good gaskets and lock style bolts.

Re: Anyone running headman headers

I ran pair of long tube Hedmans on my 454 for a short time. Ended up pulling them off and going with a set from Sanderson. Bolted up just fine. The gaskets they sent with them were garbage. I went with the Sandersons for clearance and a neater appearance mostly.

Re: Anyone running headman headers

I ran the Hedman mid-length on my 83 and love them. Great plug wire clearance and sem to be a super good product.

Re: Anyone running headman headers

Apparently getting a good set of headers isn't easy.
