Question about trucks with roof painted white....

So I'd like to paint the roof white on my '67. I see them 2 different ways. Some of them the the A pillars are painted but some they are not. Was this specific to year or anything like that? I personally like it without the A pillars painted but would like to know the story behind it.

Perfect! Not that I'm going for "original" but I like that look and mines a '67 so it works out.

Re: Question about trucks with roof painted white....

Umm I dont know. My og 67 has painted pillars. Sorry abot the pic being sideways. The red/orange cowl panal is actually the original orange with bad flourescent lighting on it. The door is the same original orange with 47 yearsbif sun beating on it.

Do you think the pillar might have been painted years ago ?

( . . . just because a previous owner LIKED it that way ? )

Can you tell anything by looking at the now, open bottom of the pillar ?

Re: Question about trucks with roof painted white....

No it looks to be original. The door pillar white paint goes into the door so it wasnt masked. And on the rain gutter by the gas filler the orange and white meet up with no trim covering. The door jamb is white also. Looks like I just found faded factory markings on the jamb also. Cool. Mines a early 67. Amd of course the pics are sideways. Sorry about that. Im posting thru my not so smart phone

Re: Question about trucks with roof painted white....

I thought this had recently come up. Here's a link to a past post.

I think I've seen the top of the door not painted white (body colour) and the roof and roof pillars painted white. Maybe the guys at the plant had fun with it!

Re: Question about trucks with roof painted white....

I feel I've sparked a pretty good topic of discussion for a noob! I like this. I'm really enjoying the interest if taken in the 67-72's. Let see what else we can dig up on this subject.

Re: Question about trucks with roof painted white....

Maybe some plants painted just to the gutters and some painted the APillars as well. We know different plants did their own unique things sometimes.

Re: Question about trucks with roof painted white....

That's an oddity if it hasn't been painted. It doesn't look factory at the rear corners to me. I'm not sayin' one way or the other because I'm just looking at pictures. But the standard is the white stops at the drip rail
