lookie what i found behind my seat today

So I've had my truck for about 3 months now, loving it......but I've always been wondering if the truck is really original and if the options sticker in the glove box is original or if it has been re-printed.

well today I was installing a new sending unit, and I pulled my seat out....check out what I found tucked in the backing of my seat!

This confirms that everything is original and correct, it all matches the sticker in the glove box!!

Is this rare to find? Or am I excited about nothing LOL

Re: lookie what i found behind my seat today

Thats pretty cool. When i got my 67 we took the seat out and found that paper thinking cool. But opon further investigation it was from some 80s ferd, explained why the seat didnt seem to fit well. Not sure how rare it would be but considering how much modifications our trucks have gone through its pretty nice it survived all those years

Some people wouldn't be but if I found that I would. I just like seeing the history of a car or truck. I have a 58 dodge coronet and have a bunch if old documents with it. I think that stuff is really cool to have.

That is very cool. Not many old trucks still have a build sheet. Most have had seats recovered or replaced at some time. I think it is a rare and cool find.

Nice, Most of the build sheets found are from Fremont,CA assembly plant as yours is. If you have a better/larger picture I'd like to have it for my research.

The one in my 70 short was under the carpet on the tunnel, in good shape just not as good as yours. Jim

Re: lookie what i found behind my seat today

my build sheet says under radio, "none"

my truck doesn't have an antenna on the front fender area, but it does have a factory looking radio in the normal place.

The original radio doesn't currently work, as there was a aftermarket radio nicely hidden in the glove box when I bought the truck a few months back.

My question is, did my truck come with a radio? Or was it added for looks? Did it come with an antenna if the build sheet says radio "none" or was it removed and the hole filled in?

I'm trying to solve the puzzle that is my truck!! LOL

Here are pictures of the build sheet and SPID

When I had my 69 painted I took the seat out and found two of those stuck in my seat, this was a long time ago I didn't think to save them. I wish I had. Nice find!

Re: lookie what i found behind my seat today

I found build sheets for both GMCs I've had. The '68 was built in Fremont and the sheet was so worn out I could barely read (some of) it. The '71 was built in St. Louis and was more legible. This truck had relatively low miles. I found both of them under the seat cushion between the springs and the burlap.

That's an extremely nice build sheet. It's not common to find them that nice, they usually look more like Chuck's pic.

Re: lookie what i found behind my seat today

Your truck would not have had a radio from the factory. You don't see two tone blue very often, nice color combo though. Do you have a pic of the truck.

I love stuff like that!

I don't think my build sheet is still in mine....I'll have to give the seat a closer look.

Yah - that's a pretty big dea (for those of us into that kind of thing).

Do not let anything happen to that sheet. It cannot be replaced (there is not another record of it anywhere).
