Re: WTB 15x8 or 16X8 6 lug steelies with 4 nubs

My son may have a set of 4 15 in we pulled of his truck yesterday in So Cal. He is going back home tomorrow to Santa Cruz. Pm me with a text or tel number and I will have him contact you about the wheels. There may be a picture of the wheels in the build section for 67-72 trucks under the name "werker"

Not mine but I saw a set of 15" x 8" six lug on craigslist NH. Might be a little pricy shipping but not a bad price on rims and tires.

Yes, but what is the backspacing on these?

You bet. I recently picked up a set of 5, 15x6 4 num wheels. 3 of the 5 have different backspacing than the other two.

The goal I'm trying to achieve is finding a set of 15X8 and making them into a 16x8 wheel. What I learned about the different backspacing in the set of 15X6 that I have is that the set of 3 have a backspacing just a shade above 3.5 measuring flush from center (where the lug nut sits) and another measurment on the inside lip of the center where you slide the wheel over the hub. There is about 1/8" difference (maybe less) However, doing the same measurement on the other two (just to make apples to apples comparison) there is a significant difference. From the center (flush on the lug nut) measures at 4.25" and the edge of the inside center lip measures at 4"...

I made the two different measurements because I noticed on yours, you measured on the center cap lip.

The first two pics are the 15x6 with the 3.5"-3.7 backspacing. (again depending on where you measure from)

Size: 46.3 KB

This next two pics is the 15x6 with the 4"-4.25" (again depending on where you measure from)

Name: 4.25 from center.jpg
Views: 251
Size: 38.7 KB
Name: 4 inch from lip.jpg
Views: 261
Size: 44.5 KB

This is a pic of the 15x6 with the 3.5"-3.7 backspacing moutning on the hub. This backspacing clears disc brakes and oversize rotors.

This pic is the other 15x6 with the 4"-4.25". You will notice this wont clear disc brakes and it also rubs the steering rod ball joint.

damn pics turned upside down.. but I think you can tell

I'm looking for a set of 15x8 that have the backspacing of the 3 that I have which is about 3.5-3.6 or maybe 3.75..

If I cant find a set of 15x8 with the backspacing I need then I will just use what I have and make the 15x6 into 15x8 using the same back spacing.

Hope that helps

The 15x6 with less back space are probably Blazer/4x4 wheels and are worth more than 2wd. They will clear most disc brake conversions making them desirable to those wanting to go disc and retain steelies. In one of your pics it looks like you have at least one. They are easily identified by the deep center.
