Your truck is a v8 2wd not a K10

Re: Vin decode isn't working on my truck.

Okay but it has 4x4. I have used it. It has 6 lug axles front and back, and a transfer case and locking hubs. The first two characters of my vin are CC, how could that be? It also has drum brakes front and back. I am very confused on all this haha.

Re: Vin decode isn't working on my truck.

If you follow the vin decoder, having the first two characters be CC nakes no sense, also look at the model year (5th character) it does not match up either.

Somebody made a 4x4 with a 2wd truck...drum brakes are 1970 and older

Re: Vin decode isn't working on my truck.

That still does not explain the vin, the first two characters, or the character for the year, it is a 4. Which isn't listed in the decoder.

Re: Vin decode isn't working on my truck.

2 C's is correct for 72, no idea why they did that though. C is for 2wd, E is for V8, 2 is 3/4 ton, forgot what 4 is, 2 is for 72, B is the plant

Sounds like you have a 72 body on a 70 or older chassis. And your vin tag has the wrong rivets, so it's been removed. You should have numbers on the top frame rail near the steering box. Do you have the SPID (option sticker) on the inside of the glove box door? That gives a bunch of info

Re: Vin decode isn't working on my truck.

Or you could have the original body and chassis and someone swapped the vin tag?

So you have a frame [and maybe chassis] from a 1970 Tarrytown truck, with a swapped cab [or VIN plate] off a '72 3/4 ton Baltimore 4x2.
Is the rear-view mirror glued to the windshield? Are there little screws by your windvents? Are the door panels all plastic with molded in armrests? If all YES then it's likely a '72.

Probably ''KE140T114217" was the original truck's VIN before the chopshop got to it.

Re: Vin decode isn't working on my truck.

Yeah... that's proof positive they don't match. The last #'s on the frame should match the build sequence of the truck. If I'm reading that right, the frame is for/from a 1970 (0) T (Terrytown Plant) with a sequence # of 114217. The sequence on your VIN is 118444.

Given your location (VA) and the need for 4x4s up there and how short of a time frame before a body is bad... 4x4 frame swaps happen all the time. The body probably went to crap and they found a nicer 2wd truck with a title and used that.

Re: Vin decode isn't working on my truck.

Where did you find this out? So I know for future refference. Also, does that mean my frame came from the factory 4x4?

Re: Vin decode isn't working on my truck.

That's actually just one of those things you have to know/find out from research, but basically frames just have the plant, year, and build # on them.

It's not proof positive it's a 4x4 frame, but it is a pain in the ass to convert a 2wd frame into a 4x4 frame, so it's highly likely it's a real 4x4 frame.

Most Chevy C/ series , 4x2s were built with coil springs. All Chevy and GMC K/ series trucks [4x4s] were built with leaf springs. If you have leaf springs the chassis is original, the cab [or VIN tag] was replaced. Like Redneck says, it's very unlikely anybody went to the expense and trouble to make a ''K'' out of a ''C''.

Re: Vin decode isn't working on my truck.

I have leafs, and the shackles are riveted not bolted, and show the patina a truck from '70 would. I'm thinking it's a 4x4 frame.

I don't have a reference to find that p/n.
If you're lucky, you might have an NP205 Xfer Case. Good unit. Period correct. Bombproof, geared assembly. Parts available.
If not, it could be a Rockwell T-221, Reliable, but noisy. Hard to source parts.
Or the NP203 [works on an interior drive belt] mechanically unreliable.
