SPID with no model or wheel base length

Been looking at a 67 shortbed, truck is old and looks to be all original, SPID looks to be old and all original, but no where on the SPID does it show the model or the wheelbase length. I have never seen one that doesn't show the wheelbase, anyone else know if thats the case sometimes on some of these SPID stickers?

Re: SPID with no model or wheel base length

Here's the out in the shop link below.
There was 4 styles of SPID's.
The Model and wheel base was sometimes typed in and sometimes left out.
Look at style D on Jeff's site
Here is a picture of style C from Jeff's site.

Re: SPID with no model or wheel base length

Ok, thanks. I was just a little worried since it didn't specify model or wheelbase.

Re: SPID with no model or wheel base length

Decode the vin number that will tell you if it is a longbed or shortbed. If the 4th and 5th digit is 57 then shortbed, if it is 59 then it is longbed.

Re: SPID with no model or wheel base length

Looks like an original 67 SPID to me. I know some of the 67s, especially GMCs, didn't come with a spid.

Thanks, looks original to me too. Just wish it stated the model or wheelbase length to verify shortbed.

Is the 4th and 5th digits [ 07 ] ?

Chevy with _ _ _ 07 _______ is short bed according to this.

{All 1967 through 1972 Chevrolet 10 thruough 30 series trucks are identified by this model designation system. It consists of
7 charactors, 2 letters followed by 5 numbers. The first letter identifies the chassis type and the second identifies the engine type. The
first number designates the GVW range, the second and third identify the cab-to-axle dimension and the last two identify the body and brake type.}

Re: SPID with no model or wheel base length

I posted the SPID that shows the vin at the top of the thread. That diagram apparently isn't for Chevrolets...or at least not a 67 chevrolet.

Re: SPID with no model or wheel base length

I just looked at 2 of my 67's vin plates / titles and spids

CE147A100000

CS147B100000

So there's no mention of wheel base or model # just the vin and paint code . the titles just list the vin . No wheel base or color

The way I read it is

C = 2wd
E = V8
1 = 1/2 ton
4 = Pickup
7 = 1967
A = Atlanta build

https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=160357

1967-1969 Vin break down (chev and gmcs)
series 10-30 only
first letter is the chassis type(see codes for model break down)
second letter is the engine type(see codes for model break down)
third is a number=gvw range (see codes for series id in model code break down)
fourth is a number=model code
model codes are;2=chassis/cowl/bus,3=chassis cab,4=pick-up,5=panel,6=carryall(suburban)9=stake side
fifth is a number =model year
if the number is a;
7=1967
8=1968
9=1969
sixth is a number or on caniadan made truck it is a number=assembly plant

Re: SPID with no model or wheel base length

Wheelbase was not listed on 67 SPIDs.
You cannot determine wheelbase from a VIN - only from the model number.
I personally have never seen a 67 SPID without a model number listed, but yours certainly appears to be an original SPID.
If you can't view it in person and check out the frame, I'd ask for a picture of the frame in the areas where they are usually cut.
Btw, your truck was originally painted with an off white top over a dark green body.

Here's the SPID from my '67 stepper. It is original to the truck. Note the model number in the description column.

Re: SPID with no model or wheel base length

Yep, agree, never say never. I've just never seen one before - and now I've seen two! Great info. Appears same plant (kinda hard to read the character on both?) and also noticed the typeset for the options is set at the very, very top of the white space on both. OP's truck and Grumpy's are relatively closely spaced on the assembly line.

It’s amazing to me that after all the time I spend on here stuff like this comes up from time to time and just makes me realize there’s still a ton of stuff about these trucks I don’t know. Great thread guys. I agree all of the spids in these pictures(even grumpy’s) look original.
