Steel Prices

I priced some steel yesterday because I wanted to build a gate for my daughter's fence... it's more than twice what it was a year ago. I guess it's gone through the roof just like every other building material.

The crazy thing is that scrap steel is still so low it's almost not worth taking it to the recycler.

Re: Steel Prices

It's not so much the price of goods is going up, the value of our currency is going down.

Re: Steel Prices

Price raise must be newer. I bought 40 year roofing tin and it was $3 a foot about 6 weeks ago. Granted this was the old school style that cheapest. I did the math at the time and it was cheaper than plywood.

I did see an add for recycling cans for 80 cents a pound the other day up in kentucky.

Yep, cost of pumping trillions of fake dollars into a super heated economy... Ooops.

Re: Steel Prices

Steel framing material has gone up 10% every month since December. It is supposed to increase 20% in July. We are currently trying to renegotiate all of or current contracts.
Oh...And there is no manpower available. I got an idea. Lets put 2 trillion more into the economy and watch it implode..They are out of their minds.

Re: Steel Prices

Earlier this week I bought some steel at the local welding shop. They had a sign up stating all steel prices are only good for 7 days.
